Bridging the gap

Natural disasters and civil conflict are the most common causes of acute crises around the world. Earthquakes, floods, droughts, protracted civil violence bring with them not only immediate death, injuries and losses of livelihoods but they bring about serious knock on effects such as migration, famines, chronic instability, small arms proliferation and unemployment. All of these are both underpinned and aggravated by the lack of basic social services such as health and education, pushing the communities further down the spiral of hopelessness.

Back2Back Meetings in Oslo

The Oslo meetings will be held back-2-back, in order to minimise expense and maximise productivity. This is a good way to ensure the most productive use of resources. The first meeting will be held on June 26 at NILU and the second on June 27 at FAFO. Topics will include cross cutting technical support issues, amongst other things.

There will be two project meetings in Oslo in June. The first will be a technical meeting held at NILU, while the other will deal with other considerations and will be held at FAFO.
